Support the Burma Appeal with a Text Message

The UK mobile phone networks have set up a short code so that customers can send a donation to the Burma appeal, supporting relief work in the disaster area.

To make a donation of £1.50 simply text the word “DONATE” to 83696, and the money will be donated to the Disaster Emergency Committee. Texts cost 10p each. There is no limit on how many times you can text the short code number.

The funds will be used to help the hundreds of thousands of victims of Cyclone Nargis, which devastated coastal areas of Burma on May 2. Up to 100,000 people are feared to have died in the disaster, and the survivors are at risk of disease from a lack of food and clean water.
