LG Announce the KC910: 8.0 Megapixel touch screen phone!

September 5, 2008

lg-kc910.jpgLG have announced their first foray into the realms of the 8.0 Megapixel camera phone market with the LG KC910. The touch screen phone, billed as a successor to the KU990 Viewty, has the distinction of being both the first 8.0 Megapixel phone with a full touchscreen interface and also the slimmest 8.0 Megapixel camera phone at just 13.95mm thick. So with things hotting up in the battle for best 8.0 Megapixel camera phone, let’s take a closer look at what LG’s entrant has to offer.

The KC910 doesn’t just hide behind the 8.0 Megapixels. As to be expected it features a Schneider Kreuznach lens much like the Viewty and also a whole host of interesting perks; autofocus, manual focus, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection and a xenon flash. As with the Viewty, LG’s latest touch screen mobile phone considers itself something of a video expert too. The KC910 can record video from 5 frames per second (FPS) up to 120 FPS, allowing it to record in both slow and fast motion.lg-kc910-back.jpg

Thankfully LG have included important features in addition to the impressive camera. HSDPA connectivity and the inclusion of Wi-Fi enables high speed web browsing which should work effortlessly on the 3.0 inch TFT display. Bluetooth v2.0 is also present and LG have also included a built-in GPS receiver with support for Geotagging, though it is unconfirmed at present what navigation software if any will be included. A feature called “Jogging Buddy” has been announced that uses GPS technology allowing you to track workouts. A secondary video calling camera has also been included (sorry I’d gone too long without mentioning the word ‘camera’).

LG aren’t shying away from multimedia either. The KC910 plays DivX and Xvid movies straight out oflg-kc9101.jpg the box and is also the first handset to include Dolby Mobile, an integrated suite of audio processing technologies which brings clean, powerful bass to the music listening experience. Whilst on-board memory is still yet to be confirmed, what we do know is that a microSD (TransFlash) slot is included, expandable up to 8GB.

As a big fan of the original LG Viewty, the prospect of a beefed up powerful new version has me very excited. The LG KC910 is set to launch in October (hats off to LG for keeping this under the radar for so long!), click here to keep updated and be sure to keep an eye on the blog for any updates!
