Samsung is making its own WiMAX and LTE chips

Samsung has begun working on its own 4G chips for both WiMAX and LTE based networks. Apple’s iPhone 3G available contract-free in France

French retailer FNAC is now offering the Apple iPhone 3G in both 8GB and 16GB capacities, unlocked and without a contract. Earlier this month, a French court ruled that the exclusive deal between Apple and Orange France is illegal, opening the door for contract-free sales of the iPhone 3G. Read the full story here.
