Nokia has revealed some information regarding the distribution of it’s 3 OS’s, namely S40, Symbian and more recently Maemo. The current OS sturcture for Nokia appears to be 60/40 in favour of S40, however, the 2010 forecast seems to be much more along the lines of 60% Symbian, 30% S40 and 10% Maemo. It would seem that Nokia plan to scale back the S40 OS found on their entry and mid-range handsets and introduce Maemo, the OS which we know is powering the almighty N900 that we so eagerly await.
Now, while we know the N900 is going to sell well, it can’t account for Nokia’s 10% OS share for Maemo, so what else does the Worlds biggest mobile phone manufacturer have in store for us? A capacitive successor to the N900? Or maybe Nokia will jump on the band wagon and move towards HD video capable phones? Who knows.
Nokia have predicted that there will be 10% more phones sold in 2010 than 2009, Nokia also expect to retain their 38% market share and has admitted that it expects its average handset sale price to decrease through 2010. Roll on 2010, that’s what we say…
