Duke Nukem is a world-famous game which has been distributed in the millions on a wide variety of consoles until now. The 3D version is said to be the best version of the game ever. While the game is not available for sale via the Ovi Store, enthusiasts have managed to port the game to the Nokia N900.
The Maemo-powered smartphone is capable of running the game at full speed and with sound too. Duke Nukem is an action game requiring the use of the keyboard and mouse for greater dexterity. On the N900, the game can be controlled with the QWERTY keyboard and the touchscreen substitutes the mouse for turning and for shooting.
If keyboard controls don’t suit you then the enterprising Maemo ‘hackers’ have come up with special drivers that enable support for the Wiimote and PS3 Sixaxis control. Using the AV Cable for TV output and a wireless gamepad such as the wiimote or sixaxis can instantly turn the N900 into a retro games console which users can enjoy on a big screen TV.
