LG E900 Windows Phone 7 Smartphone in Blurry Video

LG E900 Windows Phone 7 smartphoneSEOUL, South Korea – As September approaches, upcoming Windows Phone 7 smartphones have started to make their way into the web, the latest being the LG E900, a full-touchscreen device.

LG enjoys a good relationship with Microsoft, the developer of Windows Phone 7, which will allow it to bring the very first handsets running on this operating system, as well as the latest updates. The first leaked device running on WP7 was the LG C900, which featured a full QWERTY keyboard.

Its successor has appeared in a blurry hands-on video, where the user interface was navigated through, demonstrating very responsive scrolling, even though the system is probably at an early stage of development.

The complete specifications of the LG E900 aren’t available, but it should offer at least a 5 megapixel camera, a 3.5″ touchscreen display, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a microSD memory card slot.

The release date, just like for other Windows Phone 7 smartphones leaked, will have to be either September or October, in time for the Christmas sales season.

HTC logoTAOYUAN, Taiwan – A Chinese website by  the name of 911sniper has leaked  three new HTC smartphones, codenamed Bee, Lexikon and Spark.

The HTC Bee is a low-end Android 2.2 smartphone which comes with a 3.2″ touchscreen display. The device has a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash, runs on a 528MHz processor, and features the manufacturer’s Sense UI.

The HTC Lexikon also runs on Android 2.2 and is powered by a 800MHz processor and has 512MB of RAM. The display here is larger, at 3.8″ with Wide-VGA resolution. Physical input is provided with the help of a hardware QWERTY keypad. There is a 5 megapixel camera unit provided in the device.

Lastly, the HTC Spark seems to be one of the first few Windows Phone 7 smartphones. It runs on a 1GHz processor, presumably Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, along with 512MB of RAM. The display is 3.7″ in size and comes with a standard WVGA resolution.

The announcement date for these handsets isn’t known, although as not even images are available, production must be at an early stage, therefore hinting at a February 2011 launch at the Mobile World Congress.

iPhone 4 Closer to South Africa’s Vodacom Network

iPhone 4 FaceTimeMIDRAND, South Africa – Vodacom CEO Pieter Uys has hinted at an end-of-September iPhone 4 release date in the country.

The smartphone, which launched in the US in June, has experienced a fair share of controversy owing to dodgy network connectivity and signal strength problems. To fix the problem, Apple decided to ship a free plastic bumper with every iPhone 4 sold to avoid the infamous ‘death grip’.

The device was reported to have been the most successful product launch ever for Apple; it is the first iPhone to have FaceTime video calling, a 5 megapixel camera, multi-tasking, and many other features, courtesy of the iOS4 software.

Customers will be able to use the iPhone 4 on Vodacom’s rival MTN network, provided the latter makes microSIM cards available. The iPhone 4 has been selling in South Africa for a while, but only from grey stock importers, who retail it at expensive prices.

The iPhone 4 is expected to sell at a significant price mark-up similar to that of the previous generation of devices. It is already being sold on 18 countries, making South Africa a country which receives it later than others.

LG GT350 Chatterbox Plus Coming to South Africa

LG Etna GT350 Chatterbox PlusJOHANNESBURG, South Africa – South Korean manufacturer LG has invited the local media to attend a launch event for the much-awaited LG GT350 Chatterbox Plus.

Although the actual release date for the Chatterbox Plus is not known, it should be approaching soon, as the press conference will be held on the 26th of August this year. In many other countries, the phone is available to the market, as the LG Town GT350, or Etna Plus.

The phone comes as the successor to the LG KS360 Chatterbox, a very successful device, thanks to its friendly design and full QWERTY keyboard.

The new handset has a 3″ touchscreen display with 240×400 pixels in resolution, a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a microSD memory card slot, FM radio, and an FM transmitter.

Originally the GT350 was to retail in four colours, aqua blue, purple, light silver, and black, but the manufacturer hasn’t confirmed which ones will be sold to South African customers.

There isn’t much advancement with the new model, besides the actual touchscreen. LG could have made the device a smartphone running on Google Android, although that would have made it more expensive owing to the hardware requirements.

For the youth, who looks for a friendly-looking device with good texting abilities, the LG GT350 Chatterbox Plus will be more than sufficient.
